Megan Peters, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
Registered Play Therapist

Parenting is one of the most rewarding—and challenging—roles there is. As a parent of three young children, I understand the daily struggles families face. Balancing work, school, extracurricular activities, and the demands of everyday life can feel overwhelming, and it can be difficult to know how best to support a child’s emotional and behavioral needs. I believe early intervention is a powerful way to help children reach their highest potential. Because parents are the experts on their children, we will work together as a team to develop meaningful goals and effective interventions that support both your child and your family.

In therapy sessions, I provide a safe, caring, and confidential environment where children and parents can explore feelings, beliefs, and behaviors in a supportive way. I recognize that no single approach works for every child or family. For this reason, I use an eclectic counseling approach, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, sandtray therapy, and person-centered therapy, among others.

Why Play Therapy?
Research shows that children learn, communicate, and process experiences most naturally through play. Play therapy allows children to express thoughts and emotions that may be difficult to put into words. Using my specialized training, I incorporate games, toys, puppets, sandtray, and other therapeutic tools to meet each child’s unique needs and support emotional growth.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Kansas and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University. I earned my Play Therapy certification through the Heartland Play Therapy Institute, Inc.

I have over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families. My professional background includes child welfare, adoption services, alternative school settings, in-home therapy, and early childhood intervention. â€‹
